From the Internet to 3D modelling, the future of design is all too often seen to be driven by technology. Design Agenda believes this view is based on a one-sided view of design history. Designs development is not pre-determined, but full of choices, conflicts and negotiations. As well as the interaction between designers and technology, commercial pressures and the zeitgeist play an underestimated role. We call for a sceptical attitude toward the claims made by IT enthusiasts.
